Learner Drivers On Freeways And National Routes – K53 Blog

Q: Is a learner driver is allowed to drive on the N1 and N2 with a person who has a driver’s licence? And where can I find information on the subject?

A: Yes, a learner driver is permitted to drive on any public road where licenced drivers are allowed to drive, provided s/he is accompanied by a driver, seated in the front passenger seat, who holds a valid driving licence for that same class of vehicle. The licence/vehicle code is shown on the driving licence. The accompanying licenced driver may not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

This information is provided on page 5 of The New K53 Manual, along with everything a candidate for the Learner’s Licence Test and the K53 Driving Licence test will be tested on. The manual can be downloaded as an eBook or purchased in a bookshop.
